In-house electrolysis technology

MAN Energy Solutions uses Quest One’s 10 MW Modular Hydrogen Platform (MHP) as the core module for creating our green hydrogen plants, scalable in 50 MW electrolysis capacity per unit/block. The modular concept, combined with our unique service strategy, ensures consistently high reliability and availability, securing your investment. With the MHP’s best-in-class conversion efficiency of 77% and an output pressure of 30 bar(g), the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) is as low as possible.

Based on the tried and tested S450 Stack design, the proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology minimizes the risk of system failure. Ideal for applications with renewable energy, it provides long-term sustainability with no environmental hazards.

  • Proton exchange membrane electrolysis technology

    Thanks to the proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology, no toxic chemicals are used to produce hydrogen. Only water and electricity are required. The compact system reacts rapidly and flexibly to fluctuating loads, while boosting efficiency and reducing operating costs.

  • Green Hydrogen – Store, Use, Convert

    The green hydrogen can be stored, used directly as a fuel, or blended with natural gas. On top of that, it can also be converted into other fuels such as synthetic natural gas (SNG), green ammonia, or green methanol. If your process requires it, MAN DWE® offers specialized reactors for these hydrogen-to-X conversions, ensuring a seamless integration into your energy system.

Green hydrogen unlocks a wide range of possibilities across multiple applications

The beauty of green hydrogen is its versatility. It is possible, for example, to dry and store it, ensuring a reliable supply of hydrogen in industrial processes – or to convert it to another, easier to handle product, such as methane (gas/liquid) or methanol, which could be used for transport applications. Alternatively, it can be sent to long-term storage to provide energy resilience. A green hydrogen plant’s overall efficiency is improved even further by feeding the excess heat into, for example, a district heating system.
