Dr Uwe Lauber - Chief Executive Officer, Chief Sales Officer
Dr Uwe Lauber was born in Bad Säckingen in Germany in 1967. After graduating from high school he studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences of Technology, Economics and Design (HTWG) in Konstanz and obtained a master's degree. In 2000, he studied business engineering at the business school in St. Gallen. In addition to that, in 2009, he received a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Kronstadt.
Jürgen Klöpffer -
Chief Financial Officer
Jürgen Klöpffer was born in Passau, Germany, in 1964. After graduating from high school, he studied business administration at the University of Passau, graduating with a master’s degree.
In 1990, he started his professional career at Siemens AG, where he held various positions in purchasing and logistics in Regensburg, and later in Mexico.
Martin Oetjen -
Chief Operating Officer
Martin Oetjen was born in Buchholz in the Nordheide in 1968. In 1988 he began studying mechanical engineering at the TU Braunschweig, graduating in 1995 with a degree in engineering.
Since 1 August 2020 Martin Oetjen has been a member of the Executive Board of MAN Energy Solutions SE and is responsible for the company's entire supply chain.
Ingrid Rieken - Chief Human Resources Officer
Ingrid Rieken has joined the MAN Energy Solutions Executive Board as Chief Human Resources Officer on January 1, 2024. Born in Aurich in 1974 she looks back on a successful 30-year career in the Volkswagen Group, during which she held several senior management positions in Human Resources and Logistics at the Volkswagen plants in Emden, Hanover and Poznan in Poland.

Chief Technology Officer
Dr Gunnar Stiesch was born in Hanover in 1970. He has been Chief Technology Officer at MAN Energy Solutions SE since 1 January 2023, with responsibility for research and development.

World-First Order for Methanol Engine within Container Segment
MAN Energy Solutions has won the order to supply the world’s first, low-speed, dual-fuel engine to run on methanol within the container segment. Hyundai (HMD) will construct the 2,100-teu vessel in Korea for A.P. Møller – Maersk, the global integrator of container logistics, while HHI-EMD, which has already experience with LGIM engines (8 engines in operation and 12 engines under construction for methanol carriers), will build the MAN B&W 6G50ME-LGIM (-Liquid Gas Injection Methanol) type – also in Korea. The engine will be Tier III-compliant.
Upon launch, the newbuilding will become the very first, methanol-powered vessel that doesn’t carry methanol as cargo. Mærsk has further announced that it expects the new vessel to be powered by green methanol with bio-fuel employed as pilot oil. The vessel is set to enter service in 2023 and will sail in the network of Sealand Europe – a Maersk company- the Baltic shipping route between Nortern Europe and the Bay of Botnia.
Bjarne Foldager, Senior Vice President and Head of Two-Stroke Business, MAN Energy Solutions, said: “Maersk is displaying great leadership in adopting renewable methanol as part of its decarbonisation strategy – and well ahead of its initial 2030-ambition. For our part, we are designing dual-fuel technology that meets the growing customer demand for sustainable shipping chains and, here, our ME-LGIM engine plays an important role. It’s particularly pleasing to see it make its debut within the important container segment.”
Foldager continued: “Our other ME-LGIM references have proven methanol as a clean, efficient and safe, marine fuel that offers a clear path to decarbonisation through significant greenhouse-gas reductions, when produced from renewable energy sources. In general, as we move towards a zero-carbon future, MAN Energy Solutions’ dual-fuel engine portfolio is well positioned to handle whatever alternative fuels the market brings.”
MAN Energy Solutions states that its low-speed, dual-fuel references now exceed 408 units, with the ME-GI recording over 1.7 million operating hours on LNG alone, while the ME-LGI platform has accumulated more than 110,000 dual-fuel running hours.
About the MAN B&W ME-LGIM engine
MAN Energy Solutions developed the ME-LGIM dual-fuel engine for operation on methanol, as well as conventional fuel. The engine is based on the company’s proven ME-series, with its approximately 5,000 engines in service, and works according to the Diesel principle. When operating on methanol, the ME-LGIM significantly reduces emissions of CO2, NOx and SOx.
Additionally, any operational switch between methanol and other fuels is seamless. Tests on the engine, when running on methanol, have recorded the same or a slightly better efficiency compared to conventional, HFO-burning engines.
MAN developed the ME-LGI engine in response to interest from the shipping world in operating on alternatives to heavy fuel oil. Methanol carriers have already operated at sea for many years using the engine, and, as such, the ME-LGIM has a proven trackrecord offering great reliability in combination with high fuel-efficiency.Documents
