MAN Energy Solutions delivers keynote speech at Global Marine Economy Forum 2022

Mr. Mikael Adler, Head of Region Asia Pacific at MAN Energy Solutions (MAN Energy Solutions), delivered a keynote speech via video at the Shenzhen Global Marine Economy Forum 2022 on November 25.

The Forum was hosted by the China Oceanic Development Foundation and the Shenzhen local government, and is held during the China Marine Economy Expo, which is the only national and international marine economy exhibition in China, providing an integrated platform for exchanges on technical expertise and achievements, the exhibition of products, high-end dialogues and investment promotion.

With the theme “Leadership for the Sustainable Expansion of the Marine Economy”, the Forum involved spirited discussions on the topics of increasing the role of the marine economy in China’s overall economic development, developing Shenzhen as a global marine center, and potential policies and corporate initiatives that can facilitate the realization of long-term sustainability and a carbon neutral ocean economy, among others.

MAN Energy Solutions participated in a parallel session of the Forum, titled “The Shipping industry facing the challenges of the ‘new normal’”. Besides MAN, other guest speakers at the session include Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, top managers from the China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), Maersk, Wartsila Group and a senior policy analyst from the British Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Mikael Adler gave a keynote speech titled “Decarbonization Challenges and Our Strategy”, during which he presented the company’s newly formulated purpose – “Moving Big Things to Zero” – to showcase the company’s goals and motivation. This involves making big moves to decarbonize ships, power plants, and industrial facilities, so that even entire industries can ultimately become emissions-free. MAN Energy Solutions is leveraging key technologies to help clients achieve the target of “net zero” emissions, including PEM electrolysis, green engines, retrofits, carbon capturing and heat pumps. By supporting industries on their path to becoming emissions-free through using these technologies, the ultimate goal is to contribute to a climate–neutral economy and society.

“It is my great pleasure to attend the Shenzhen Global Marine Economy Forum together with other leading organizations and companies across the shipping industry, and to share my insights at this event,” said Mikael Adler. “China's leadership is of extraordinary significance in the global fight against climate change. In line with China’s strategic vision, we have joined hands with Chinese partners and suppliers to help China achieve its twin goals of peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, and to contribute to the green development of the world economy.”

The Shenzhen Global Marine Economy Forum was attended by approximately 300 people on-site, and was broadcasted by various prominent Chinese media outlets and social media platforms, including CCTV and Xinhua.net, with over 300,000 online viewers. In this regard, the Forum served as a great platform for enhancing the visibility and awareness of the MAN Energy Solutions in the China market.
