MAN Energy Solutions Signs Maintenance Contract for EDF PEI Power Plants until 2031

On February 11th, 2025, MAN Energy Solutions signed a partnership agreement with EDF PEI, a major player in power generation in island regions.

Frédéric Maillard, President of EDF PEI, and Arnauld Filancia, President of MAN Energy Solutions France, signed the agreement, which runs until 2031.

EDF PEI has entrusted MAN with all engine and auxiliary maintenance operations for its four power-generation plants on the respective islands of Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion and Corsica.

The long-term partnership, handled by PrimeServ – MAN Energy Solutions' after-sales service brand – comprises three elements:

  • the supply and delivery of spare parts for the four power plants;
  • systematic turnkey maintenance services for engines, turbo-compressors, alternators, and unit or unit auxiliaries, including labour and inspection kits;
  • additional maintenance services, including corrective maintenance, spare-parts refurbishment, supervision of maintenance operations, and the supply and delivery of spare parts.

Maillard said: “This new six-year maintenance contract with MAN Energy Solutions is an extension of our existing contract. This long-term collaboration fully meets our reliability and performance objectives, which are essential in the non-interconnected territories where our power plants are located.”

Filancia said: “This new order confirms our solid position in the after-sales segment, both for the supply of parts and the implementation of long-term maintenance services. This is further proof of the satisfaction with our performance to date, and of the solidity of our partnership with EDF PEI.”

The contract represents more than 100,000 hours of annual maintenance, based on engine operational intervals ranging from 36,000 to 102,000 hours on the four islands concerned, and employing a team of around thirty people.

The demanding maintenance strategy enables EDF PEI to guarantee a very high availability rate for its power-generation units, close to 95%.

The power plants in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion are powered by 12 × MAN 18V48/60 engines, and the Corsican plant by 7 × MAN 18V51/60 engines, facilitating the energy needs of the territories in an optimised and reliable way.

The individual plants also meet particularly stringent, environmental requirements in terms of fuel consumption, noise and exhaust emissions.
