Mechanical Workshop Foreman

We can offer you the following tasks:

  • Detailed Manpower resource planning of all mechanical aspects of repair and manufacturing activities within the PrimeServ Workshop.
  • Supervision, training and leadership of all the mechanical activities within the service workshop including work on breakdowns and on emergency repairs of client equipment.
  • Manage and control of any sub-contractors engaged and working within the service workshop.
  • Engagement and reporting of progress to the Workshop operations team, Engineering team, all internal customers and stakeholders, highlighting risks, technical issues, and assisting to actively provide solutions to achieve customer delivery times, manage costs, ensuring to achieve a high quality standard of work, and ensuring the safety of all Service workshop staff.
  • Actively manage all safety hazards and risks within the service workshop in line with all legal requirements.
  • Technical support and on the job training to all personnel in the service works.
  • Leadership and management of the service workshop mechanical staff, development and improvement of skills, competencies and in house capabilities to support the business.
  • Plan, administer, control and forecast the required resources in terms of manpower, equipment and spare parts in coordination with Machine shop foreman, Inspection foreman, the Engineering team, Planning team and Workshop Manager.
  • Control and ensure that all tools and equipment to ensure that all are maintained, stored and organised properly and are safe to use and fit for their intended purpose.
  • Ensure a high level of housekeeping discipline within the team.
  • Provide active and highly effective leadership of the mechanical service team to ensure results, performance, employee motivation, satisfaction and a strong team spirit.
  • Measure and Monitor performance of mechanical staff employees.
  • Take disciplinary action when required.
  • Monitor and control workshop expenses
  • Consider and authorise workshop expenses win line with budgets and existing company financial controls and procedures.

You can help us with these qualifications:

  • 5 years of professional experience in related field
  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Technical) Management qualification, Qualified Artisan ( Fitter and Turner, Millwright) Olifantsfontein Trade Certificate
  • Experience working in a similar industry on turbo machinery parts
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • You must have a broad understanding of operational behaviour of turbomachinery, their components and their principle and control philosophies 
  • You must also possess strong analytical skills as well as a vital mind and intuition to explore root causes of given problems
  • Suitable candidates must be an expert and familiar with the following:
  • General maintenance of rotating equipment and machinery
  • Inspection, repair, manufacturing and refurbishment of Steam / Gas Turbines, axial, centrifugal and gear compressors, including a variety of pumps, valves, gearboxes, and all associated parts.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment essential
