What are you going to do?

This position is responsible to lead a team of people in the workshop, from planning to operations that includes but not limited to allocating resources and managing the day to day workshop floor activities. It requires the job holder to co-ordinate budget, resources and liaises with internal and external key contacts and customers to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard as set out in objectives.

As Workshop Engineer your main tasks is:

• Ensure execution of the work  in the w/shop, accordingly to set plans, on day to day basis
• Manage the work force to maximize the work effectiveness
• Cooperate with store with respect to supplies and distribution of parts & materials for individual jobs
• Report work progress on daily basis, communicate all concerns and provide necessary feedback to ensure flawless & timely execution of jobs.
• Initiate potential improvements of the processes and/or machinery in order to maximize the work efficiency and/or improve quality
• Ensure timely & accurate flow of information between all stake holders ( internal & external )
• Ensure provision of proper technical documentation to the team leaders, in the w/shop, for each individual project
• Ensure that all technical requirements indicated in the documentation are met and documented
• Prepare Inspection and repair reports pertaining with the repair jobs in the w/shop and ensure that they are uploaded into appropriate sites
• Indicate training requirements both internal & external
• Prepare programs & supervise process of internal training
• Promote safety culture between the team members & ensure that all processes are executed accordingly to the company’s rules & good engineers practices
• Participate in preparation of quotations and repair processes
• Ensure that at least minimum quality standards set by the company’s policy are met
• Participate in investigation related to w/shop processes non conformities and actively implement set corrective measures
• Ensure positive identification of items in the w/shop.
• Ensure that completed items are protected against damage and contamination, accordingly to planned delivery action.
• Participate in assessment of the w/shop team members
• Ensure that correct job numbers are used and manhours are recorded to the appropriate projects.
• Act in capacity of the workshop manager in absence of the latter.

   

  You can help us with these qualifications:

• An Engineering degree from university or Higher Diploma in maintenance with supporting professional qualifications will be an advantage Detailed understanding of the technical levels
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing/leading a multi-cultural workshop team of turbomachinery field, preferably based in Africa or the Middle East or Asia Pacific.
• Strong knowledge in repair process of Compressors (centrifugal, Axia, Screw, gear type, etc), Steam turbines, Pumps, cartridge overhauls, Rotor re-build & repairs, etc
• Able to prepare the inspection reports with repair recommendations
• Having knowledge on reverse engineering, manufacturing process, tool selections, etc.
• Very good oral and written communication skills in English
• Ability to design and implement relevant systems that would underpin safe and efficient workshop operations.
• Track record of planning & delivering projects within agreed timescales.
• Well-honed leadership and management skills: an ability to delegate and motivate a team.
• Mechanically minded, able to problem solve and repair a whole host of equipment.
• Highly computer literate (Microsoft Office, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), etc). Excellent grasp of the English language: verbal and written.
• Exceptional judgment informed by extensive knowledge and experience.
• Innovative, inventive and analytical, able to pre-empt and resolve problems with alacrity: task and solution orientated.
• Agile, responsive and good under pressure. Safety conscious, with a good understanding of 5S and QHSE.
