The majority of the industry is planning to use compliant fuels to meet the 2020 Sulphur Cap regulations. However, it is important for these businesses to understand that this approach is not as straightforward as it sounds. A vessel’s engines need certain modifications to operate on a different fuel type, and time is also needed to make sure that there is no non-compliant fuel in the fuel system.
